  2. i cant install skype on linux mandriva gnome! can someone give me an idea?

  3. @kmich22 Yes, you can install GNOME, then uninstall KDE. Don’t uninstall KDE first otherwise you will only have the terminal as an interface.

  4. guys i have mandriva kde and i have some problems! can i turn to mandriva gnome without format?

  5. laptop that has an nvieda card o_O battery must suck…

  13. funny video

  14. I think that it is included by default now, like on all mains distributions. Enjoy :-)

  15. Very nice video!! im downloading the 2008 version!! BTW dose it comes like that with it’s fusion or you have to download the compiz-fusion??

  16. This is a mac user, Nikoo. Mac users aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed, or else they wouldn’t be paying twice as much for what they could get on a normal PC.
Also, mac users, before you attack me, I own a Mac, and I use my normal PC much more often.
    Lol, Win+Lin>Mac

  17. You mean Windows/Mac/Linux…

  18. microsoftjc says:

I use all of them really they are all amazing and they all do have there own special quality So I use them all and sometimes at once. I LOVE PC MAC LINUX !!!

  19. SiathLinux says:

Mandriva will work with you newer flat panel monitor :D

  20. 420asebring says:

Yes, I am an American myself and I agree with you 100%. With most ignorant Americans anything that is not mainstream is a “cult” or a “terrorist”. Not all of us are like that and have better things to do than hate on invisible “cults” or “terrorists”.That poster was representing like you said the “narrow-minded” ones. Some people need to get their head out their asses. This is why the US is going to hell.

  21. True. That’s what I tend to shout all day long: choose the thing that fits your needs, and be happy to have the possibility to try something else if you’re ever interested in doing so.

  22. This is not smart to argue about which system is better or worse. Windows, Linux, Mac OS… have all they’re own advantages! I personaly use Windows Vista and Mandriva on same machine with a VMware WorkStation so that I could change the system with one click of a mouse…

  23. R0FL!!! i have the same lappy A6Km,now i have Windows XP x64 SP2, today iam gonna install some x64 linux! cheers! =)

  24. Hard to tell, but I’d say that if Mandriva doesn’t work, you should try SuSE first in terms of hardware broad support and then Fedora. Although, I don’t like these two very much, compared to Mandriva and Ubuntu/Kubuntu. Good luck.

  25. im downloading mandriva 2008 one now, i tested ubuntu but my monitor (LCD) doesnt work, I dont know why, and im trying mandriva, if this doesnt work wat linux should I try?
    Fedora8,9, suse…?

  26. AlvitrValkyrie says:

    Been using Mandriva 2011, KDE
Update GUI sucks, like all others xD Do it from terminal. Update kernel via terminal first.
After that, stable. And Flash works *all over the web* after installed (download from flash site). No gnash bull needed. The package manager is just a step down from ubuntu’s, but has a snazzy install option when you download something of the proper architecture (+ all SUSE packages :D SUSE ROCKS!)
WHOA! The KDE version of RMD works @.@ 1st time a linux recorder has worked

  27. asconblake says:

did they really startet out at 32 mins????

  28. SlaveExplosion says:

Why focus your distro on KDE, it’s… horrible. Seriously. I know that’s just my opinion, but I really don’t know how anyone could prefer this to gnome or xfce.

  29. KingGoddard says:

I’m watching because Allan and screw Java it blows any way.

  30. I wonder how Bryan would feel if he reads these comments?

  31. I am just getting into linux and have looked at several OS’s but am having trouble deciding what to go with. I am newbish and will be using it mostly for basic computing. Would Ubuntu 11.04 be the best choice?

    Thanks

  32. AciliusOperator says:

It’s not really LAS without the B-man!

  33. jhowardfox says:

Meh, unless I hear someone passionately go on about DOS gaming from 20 years back, or a smart phone from 2009, it just doesn’t feel the same.

  34. SolomonKull says:

It’s one day a week. You just should get rid of Bryan, he’s a fucking slacker.

  35. santosbl01 says:

    Allan is an awesome guy!

  36. jupiterbroadcasting says:

@hackmeupsome We’ve gotten a few requests for noob segments, so I’m planning to start working on those soon!

  37. hackmeupsome says:

Allan is awesome with some incredible knowledge…I mean really we couldn’t ask for a better replacement. Bryan and Chris can pop off each other in studio. Allan is going over skype and can’t really butt in on Chris like Bryan does. Informational and entertaining hard to see how LAS or techSNAP can be slagged off. I do have 1 request if Allan or Chris ever read these comments, a 2-3 min segment at the end of the show for newbs would great for new-to-linux users that you old hands could skip.

  38. bamdadkhan says:

bring back allan’s bsd tips! ;)

  39. mysticxhobo says:

i cant watch without the B-man. . . i still love you allan

  40. webmastertool says:

@Psycholistic1 lol he was pertty talkative in the kernel org hacking.

  41. fancysnake1 says:

@SxeD4ve Haha I was thinking the same thing.

  42. mastercontrol5000 says:

Maybe it’s good that Bryan isn’t here. He would’ve had a heart attack and brain annurism at the same time about MeeGo.

  43. Bryan gets sick a lot.

Dude needs to step up the vitamin intake.

  44. Allan is a great replacement!

…In fact, I think he’s better sometimes as he’s able to provide interesting details.

  45. MiddleHander says:

    Where’s Bryan???

  46. Brian is the influence for Breaking Bad

  47. siabost9deas says:

Mandriva’s main menu seems to be the way Unity & Gnome 3 have gone. Only in Mandriva 2011 it’s MASSIVE. Makes you step back from a decent size monitor in fright! Certainly needs to have facility to resize icons. Good use of Nepomuk, which exists on other KDE desktops but not in as neat a form as this. The overall design is clean but a little stark for my tastes so may indeed serve as a “Reservation” for Gnome2s. IMO, Kubuntu has the nicest version of KDE, possibly followed by OpenSUSE 11.4.

  48. Linux4UnMe says:

I have a pretty indepth Overview Review of Mandriva 2011 on My channel if anybody wants to check it out. Not a bad release
