Linux Mint 11 Review – Linux Distro Reviews

A quick review of Linux Mint 11 Katya, the release candidate. Overall, a fantastic distribution as always, especially an answer to the Unity / Gnome Shell issues that the Linux desktop world is caught up in right now. Best apps, best desktop, and best GNOME 2.32 experience out there right now in my honest opinion.
A review of the much-anticipated Linux Mint 12 ‘Lisa’ operating system. Overall, this distribution bridges a wide gap between the traditional desktop interface, and the future desktop of Gnome 3. Top of the line open-source applications with custom Mint tools make for a very nice, albeit limited, user experience. I like the direction that Linux Mint 12 is headed, but there are still some implementation tweaks that need to be made in both Gnome 3′s Mint Gnome Shell Extensions (MGSE) and the Gnome 2 fork MATE desktop environment. So this is my review/overview of PCLinuxOS Gnome version. A very neat distro, with many useful applications. For example, you get Skype, Recordmydesktop, Audacity and VLC installed by default. PCLinuxOS is a very fast and effective distro. I like the default black theme and the wallpaper you get. I’m not showing, how it looks in the video, but it has a beautiful login screen. It even has its own Tweak ”center”. Its called PCLinuxOS Tweak… Obviously! I would recommend this distro to all the people, that have tried Ubuntu or Mint.
