Over the last week since my short review on gOS and the introduction of the ASUS EEE PC with it's stream line version of Xandros I have been thinking about what value this has for the Linux OS and it's familiarity to the masses.

The other day my father dropped off his old Dell Insprion 8100 laptop that I think he has had for many years. It had Windows XP on it and well he thought my son might like it. Well, the first thing my son said was "Gee is it heavy and slow" he was right. Its not the fastest laptop in the world and it is build rather solid. My son has a gaming Intel 3g machine and he likes his video game so I could see his point.

I thought I would install Linux Mint 4.0 Beta on this laptop....

Well today was the day! Its a Saturday and what else does one have to do on a raining day in beautiful British Columbia Canada, Upgrade to Ubuntu 7.10!

This week was a busy one at Review Linux. We had a few reviews added to our database. Mandriva 2008 Free came out and hit the review sites with a presence. Many people were waiting for this release and it showed by the number of visitors we had to the site. Linspire and Zenwalk had not as many hits but still in the run. Zenwalk is a distribution I am really going to take a good look at in the coming weeks. I think it is time for myself to try another distro. I think I may give it a try at...

Well our poll at Review Linux has been on our main page for almost 3 days. There have been well over 1500 votes in those 3 days. I did subnit the poll in a news article to both Linux.Com and Lxer.Com as well as Digg.Com. Not sure if it made it to any page at Linux.Com ( too lazy after turkey night to look up here in Canada ) but it was on the others. Funny how any of these so called Favorite Linux OS polls work, they really are in no way a scientific poll what so ever as they can be manipulated...
