Recommendations

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I'll ask anyway!

I am trying to use an older system to stream video to for in front of my stationary bike. It is an Duron 800MHz system with 256MB of RAM. I install Ubuntu 7.10 and Windows XP - the video is very choppy to the point of being unwatchable.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a Linux dirstro to use that would work better, or should I look at getting a different machine? Right now I am looking at an Athlon 64 3500+ with 1GB of RAM. A low-cost, older machine, but a lot better than the one I have.

Thanks,

Brian

Is it just video being streamed from internet or another machine? You maybe lacking a bit of horsepower as far as the machine goes. What video card do you have as some cards have builtin mpeg capabilities
