Xubuntu 6.10 problems

Hello,

just installed Xubuntu 6.10, everything looks fine and dandy, but...
much things aren't possible to execute!
Examples: I cannot edit my system clock. I can't see my partitions in the file manager. I can't edit files in my /usr/share directory.

How can I edit things as a "root" admin?

Thanks in advance,
Marc
