re: PClinuxOS questions
Hi
I have been ''reading' Linux for a year, and then went to Ubuntu for ease of WIFI use. The command line got to me, and I am now in PClinuxOS.
I have evolved in a month from XPpro dual boot to no Windows, and that is generally working well. I also like Damned Small and will either dual boot it or continue running it in RAM for speed
I am on the wire at home now and both PCLOS and DSL do that natively. For Hotspots and such I use PCLOS as DSL doesn't recognize my Dlink DWL G630 c3 PCMCIA card yet.
I have set many passwords in PCLOS and had them fail me even when meticulously recorded and applied. I don't know if this is an OS issue or my own. I have learned the techniques to reset root password at boot, and I have had to do that several times. Has anyone else had the same issue?
Another issue is file encryption. I have PCLOS Gnome and I like that, but I am not yet finding a native encryption system for Gnome. Can anyone advise on that. Is pgp suitable, or is there a better option? I do not wish to use KDE in PCLOS.
I am also looking at Mint and may go there in a multi boot as well. A sissy name I guess_with no 'damn' in it or anything! [oh well].
Thanks for listening. I may be on the wrong forum for PCLOS issues. If so, many loud and evasive excuses and denials to all.
Any help with encryption in Gnome or password stability in PCLOS would be appreciated.
thanks,
fallsoffmotorcycle
