HTC One may get the 4.2.2 Jellybean update in the next 2-3 weeks

We have some good news for all HTC One owners. An unofficial tweet from a known HTC Developer says that the android jellybean update for HTC One will roll out in the next 2-3 weeks.

htc one

Back when the device was announced in March, we were quite disappointed to hear that HTC One was coming with android 4.1 Jellybean on board. Android 4.1 Jellybean is a pretty old OS (was released back in July) and even the latest OS 4.2.2 Jellybean is almost 6 months old. So, users obviously expect the company to release the 4.2.2 update as soon as possible. This news would finally cheer them up.

A user tweeted to the HTC developer saying,

@LlabTooFeR I’ll be getting my new HTC One later today. I’m moving for the first time from iPhone 4. When will 4.2.2 be available :(

And luckily LlabTooFer replied,

@GidiyorsunPro 2-3 weeks I think

Although it’s not the official source, LlabTooFeR is known to reveal correct information about the company so we can hope that the update will be available at least by June 1st week.

The 4.2.2 update would bring in some cool features to the device like lock screen widgets, quick settings, gesture enhanced keyboard etc. Although this might not be a huge upgrade like the 4.1 Jellybean, we are sure users would be waiting impatiently to get their hands on the latest android version.

Next iPad mini’s Retina displays may enter mass production next month

iPad Mini 2 Retina Display
Reviewers loved the iPad mini and every indication suggests the smaller Apple slate is selling to consumers quite well. The one item that seems to be on everyone’s wish list, however, is a Retina display. Coming from Apple devices like the full-size iPad and the iPhone 5, the iPad mini’s pixel-starved screen can be painful to use at times, but that will change later this year when Apple launches the second-generation iPad mini with an updated Retina display. According to CNET, NPD DisplaySearch analyst Richard Shim says LG Display will begin mass production of the new iPad mini’s 2,048 x 1,536-pixel Retina display in either June or July ahead of a release this fall. Buying the new iPad mini this fall might be a bad idea though, since Shim believes an upgraded third-generation model will launch just a few months later in Q1 2014.

Why Google Glass is worth doing even if it goes down as the next Segway

Google Glass Praise
Google Glass has taken a lot of criticism this week from people who think that it will go down as a piece of technology that sounds like a terrific idea but that never reaches mass appeal because it’s perceived as dorky, much like the Segway and Bluetooth headsets. I have to admit that I find this argument very compelling because it seems that Glass will, much like the justifiably loathed Bluetooth earpieces, make its users come across as anti-social cyborgs who are so caught up in their own little digital worlds that they won’t pay attention to what’s going on around them.

Google Fiber’s next stop is Shawnee, Kansas

Android Central

The Google Fiber train continues to roll with another Kansas location selected for the service

Google's next expansion to the Fiber network has been selected, and adds another location in Kansas to the map. Next up to receive the Gigabit Internet and TV provided by Google is Shawnee, Kansas, which makes total sense given its proximity to Kansas City.

Google says they were impressed by Shawnee's vision of keeping their citizens informed and involved using the internet. The announcement has been made after the Shawnee City Council voted to bring Fiber to the city. There's no estimated time of arrival for the service, as there is a lot of planning an engineering works to take place first. But, for the folks of Shawnee, this is fantastic news.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 to enter mass production next month

Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor production
Vendors such as Samsung, HTC and LG have turned to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 processor to power their flagship devices. The chipset has been praised for its high-end performance and efficient power consumption, and Qualcomm is promising an even better user experience with its Snapdragon 800 processor. The company’s upcoming chip is similar to the 600 version with its four cores that are clocked asynchronously, however it can maintain a clock speed of up to 2.3GHz and includes a new Adreno 330 graphics processor that is capable of supporting 4K resolution playback at 30 frames-per-second.
